TalkDo Privacy Policy
Your voice and text stay on your Mac.
Effective July 11, 2026. TalkDo is provided by Neutrino GmbH.
Data processing
The production version of TalkDo records audio only while you explicitly dictate. Speech recognition, cleanup, available Apple Intelligence Prompt transformation, and history storage run locally on your Mac. TalkDo does not include advertising, analytics, tracking, or a production cloud processor.
Optional model download
If you choose WhisperKit, TalkDo downloads the selected speech model from the Hugging Face model repository and caches it on your Mac. The request does not contain your recordings, transcripts, clipboard content, or surrounding application text. Apple Speech requires no TalkDo model download; TalkDo refuses Apple Speech recognition for a locale unless macOS reports that on-device recognition is supported.
Data stored on your Mac
Depending on your settings, TalkDo stores transcripts, dictionary entries, snippets, operational diagnostics, and temporary recovery audio under ~/Library/Application Support/TalkDo. These files are restricted to your macOS account. Recovery audio is deleted after successful delivery unless you explicitly enable the bounded accuracy audit.
Retention and deletion
You choose how long saved transcripts and failed recovery recordings are retained. TalkDo also caps stored items. Settings > Privacy > Delete All TalkDo Data removes local transcripts, recordings, downloaded speech models, settings, dictionary entries, and snippets.
Permissions
Microphone permission is used only for dictation. Speech Recognition permission is used only with the Apple Speech engine. Accessibility permission is used to validate the focused field and insert text into the application you are using. The optional advanced modifier shortcut observes modifier state but does not record typed keys.
Clipboard
TalkDo temporarily uses the clipboard when direct insertion is unavailable and restores it when delivery can be confirmed. The optional Clipboard module stores copied text locally and ignores items marked concealed or transient.
